Silverbeet Silverado 50 Seeds

Beta vulgaris

Silverado is a compact green variety that only grows 35-40cm tall with broad white stems and crumpled, glossy dark green leaves which can be harvested individually or as a whole plant. Silverado has an excellent taste and is slow to bolt. The compact and attractive plants matures in 60 - 65 days. Young chard leaves have a sweet taste like spinach, so chard is often used like spinach.

This is a cut and come again plant, providing leaves for some months before going to flower. Can re-sprout from around the base if cut off when it starts to flower.

Reasonably frost and heat tolerant. Grows well in most soils. For prolific growth apply compost, or well-rotted manure. Resistant to most plant diseases. The multi-coloured ones look good in a flower border.
